Parking plan

Hendon And Finchley Times
15th June 06

Brent Cross bosses say they need to introduce parking charges to the shopping centre to raise funds for £10 million worth of improvements to its car parks and to prevent non-shoppers' from parking there.

It seems odd that perfectly good free car parks need to be replaced with £10m computer-guided ones which cost users. The fees would probably raise £10m in the first year of operation alone, so Brent Cross's claim that the plan is not a money-making venture seems disingenuous.
Free parking is one of Brent Cross's major attractions. Taking it away will mean shoppers will visit less frequently and will leave more quickly. Bosses need to realise that this plan cannot be good for business or its customers.
